Yeonsu Neungheodae Culture Festival Takes Place Soon

Yeonsu-gu, Incheon City announced on Sept. 14 that the 10th Yeonsu Neungheodae Culture Festival would take place offline on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. In 2019 to 2021, the event could not take place due to African swine flu and COVID- 19. The event venues are the Songdo Moonlight and Neungheodae Parks.

This year’s festival includes various performances, concerts and fireworks along with Baekje envoy parade and Neungheodae history exhibition. The district government is promoting the event in various ways, including free KakaoTalk emoticons and messenger notifications.

More than 100 booths of sister cities and cooks will be installed at the event venues. The cities include Baguio (Philippines), Greenville (South Carolina), Laem Chabang (Thailand), Yesan (South Chungcheong), Samcheok (Gangwon) and Wando ( South Jeolla).

The promotion and hands-on booths in the main plaza are expected to present various things to enjoy along with picnic places. Drone exhibition and experience are also scheduled and the district government will promote its administrative policies there for better mutual understanding.

The district government is planning to turn the festival into a cultural tourism product to contribute to regional cultural industrialization and economic prosperity. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selected the festival as a cultural tourism festival of excellence in 2017 and 2018 and the district is going to further develop it by coming up with new and unique programs.

“It is a great pleasure to reopen the Neungheodae Culture Festival in four years,” said Yeonsu District Governor Lee Jae-ho, adding, “The district will keep trying so that it can be enjoyed by more people and become more representative of the area .”
