World Juniors playoff schedule 2022: Dates, times, matchups for knockout stage of 2022 IIHF World U20 Championship

The preliminary round is over. The rest of the 2022 World Juniors is simple — survive and advance.

The knockout stage of the tournament begins on Wednesday, as the field has been slightly trimmed down from 10 teams to eight. After a week of competition in group play, the top four teams from each group advance to play for a medal.

There were not too many surprises in the preliminary round, with Canada, USA, Sweden and Finland finishing as the top four teams as expected. However, we did have one major upset, as Latvia secured its first-ever preliminary round win at the World Juniors, upsetting Czechia to grab the No. 3 seed in Group A.

With the win, it bumped Slovakia out of medal contention, joining Austria as the two teams that will not be moving onto the knockout stage.
