Johnson Sakaja Is Now The New Governor For Nairobi

Johnson Sakaja, who was vying on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party garnered 811,734 votes to emerge the victor as the Governor for Nairobi County.

Sakaja edged out corporate executive Polycarp Igathe, who got 594, 305 votes. Igathe was eyeing the seat on a Jubilee ticket. The shameful loss of Igathe shows the miscalculation that Azimio did to drop Tim Wanyonyi from the race.

The win of Sakaja also falls in line with what opinion polls have been predicting, placing him ahead of Igathe and other competitors. If Raila Odinga wins the Presidency, Nairobi City for the second time since independence will be in the hands of an opposition Governor. If William Ruto wins, it will be government then.
