Interactive support directory provides winter help

TO HELP those who are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, an interactive community directory has been created which lists warm spaces and community food providers.

Wiltshire Council put out a call for warm spaces in October and the directory should provide some comfort for those with concerns about the cost of energy or who are struggling to eat well.

Leader of Wiltshire Council, Councilor Richard Clewer, said: “At this challenging time, people don’t need the added stress of not knowing where to go to find support should they need it. Our interactive directory is a simple, user-friendly tool to provide important information quickly to those who need it.

“We once again thank everyone for doing their bit to support residents throughout these ongoing challenges. Quite frankly, that community spirit has been required far too often over the last few difficult years, but it certainly provides comfort and reassurance to people going through a really challenging time.

“We’ll continue to do what we can to guide people through these cost-of-living pressures.”

Details of new warm spaces or community food provider services can be added, and the directory will be updated regularly.

Wiltshire Council has already collated guidance on cost-of-living topics including energy, council tax, and benefits as well as advice on mental health. There is also a section providing advice and support for businesses.

To access the support already available, people need to select their postcode when on the directory and this generates a list of all that is available.
