Five Longhorns named to USA Swimming 2022 FINA World Championships (25m) Roster


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Five current and former Longhorn swimmers have been named to the United States team for the 2022 FINA World Championships (25m), USA Swimming announced on Wednesday. Current Longhorns Carson Foster, Jake Foster, David Johnston and Dakota Lutherand Texas Ex Drew Kibler will represent the United States at the short course world championships, which takes place December 13-18 at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Melbourne, Australia. Additionally, Men’s Swimming and Diving head coach Eddie Reese will serve as an assistant coach on the team.

Carson Foster will represent the United States in the 200 and 400 IM and the 200 fly, and Jake Foster will compete in the 400 IM. Johnston is slated to race in the 800 and 1500 free, while Kibler will compete in the 100 and 200 free.
On the women’s side, Luther will race for the US in the 200 fly.

In addition to the current and former Longhorns named to Team USA, a pair of swimmers who train in Austin are also heading to Australia. Leah Smith, who trains with Women’s Swimming and Diving head coach Carol Capitaniwill compete in a trio of events – the 200, 400 and 800 free. Shaine Cases, who trains with Reese, will take part in four events – the 50 and 100 fly, the 200 IM and the 200 back.

Jake Foster and Johnston will both be making their senior-level debuts in a FINA international competition.
