Fáilte Ireland Welcomes St Patrick’s Day Visitors

Fáilte Ireland welcomed the thousands of visitors who journeyed to locations across the country last week for the annual St Patrick’s Day celebrations.

“A Key Role”

In a statement published on Fáilte Ireland.ie, the national tourism development authority said, “Festivals and events play a key role in delivering brilliant experiences, providing a unique reason for visitors to choose a destination and increase footfall for local businesses and supporting job generation.

“Fáilte Ireland is proud to support the national St Patrick’s Festival in Dublin, which is expected to generate €50 million in economic impact for the capital. We also support regional St Patrick’s Day events and celebrations in Cork, Killarney, Limerick, Waterford, Sligo , and Kilkenny.

“A Fantastic Tourist Destination”

Fáilte Ireland added, “St Patrick’s Day celebrations help to showcase Ireland as a fantastic tourist destination to people around the world so Fáilte Ireland is also giving a céad míle fáilte – a hundred thousand welcomes – to 45 global print, broadcast with and online media combined audience reach of 22 million that have traveled to Ireland this week to write, film, interview or post about Ireland on St Patrick’s Day. They will also capture the many unique attractions and visitor experiences across the country that bring our history, heritage and culture to life. Hosted by Fáilte Ireland in conjunction with Tourism Ireland, the international media have traveled from the US, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Netherlands and Denmark.”
