Busche tapped her shot into the twine for a 3-1 edge on the scoreboard with 25:50 left in regulation.

“That was about as pretty of a pass as I’ve seen for a while,” Nielsen said in reference to Maia Goerndt’s cross pass.

Kate Busche then was credited with her second goal by kicking the ball off a Crusader player, who accidentally drilled the carom into the Loyola net. Hannah Goerndt was credited with an assist on the play with 16:43 remaining in regulation.

Cardinal defender Abby Cihoski actually produced the game’s initial save by clearing the Crusaders’ ricocheting shot that evaded Stromberg’s reach at the 30:44 juncture of the opening half.

Loyola missed its first penalty kick wide of the left post with 18:48 left in the first segment before Stromberg displayed her athleticism by making a finger-tip diving save on Davis’ left-to-right liner off a left-wing rush with 17 :40 showing on the scoreboard before halftime.
