Camel Project receives Act 48 approval for ‘Deconstructing the Culture of Bullying’ program

The Camel Project, a Reading-based non-profit, has received approval for its Certified Prevention Specialist Program: Deconstructing the Culture of Bullying; Preventing Bullying-Based Violence program from the Pennsylvania Department of Education under Pennsylvania Act 48 of 1999.

With this approval, the Camel Project’s four-hour program will count toward fulfilling the continuing education requirements under Act 48 for teachers and other educators across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who participate in the training. The Act requires all certified educators to complete 180 hours of professional development every five years.

“Educators have a lot of influence over our students and their mental health. The Camel Project is working to support influencers in our communities, including educators, leaders, and law enforcement, to build strong relationships that include everyone. We believe preventative steps like the Deconstructing the Culture of Bullying program is the key to eliminating bullying,” says Pamela Gockley, Founder and Executive Director of the Camel Project.

Studies show that if not interrupted, unresolved bullying behaviors in young people often result in bullying behaviors in adulthood.

Thirty percent of workers reported bullying, and nineteen percent witnessed bullying, which affects 79.3 million Americans in the workplace.

The Certified Prevention Specialist program educates and equips educators and schools to set standards with tools, strategies, and a wellness plan to address the destructive issues of trauma and abuse that stems from the aggressive learned behavior of bullying. We deconstruct the culture of bullying and the connection between emotions and behaviors resulting in chronic toxic adults.
