Woman dead after single vehicle RTA on N2, north of Ardee

A woman has died after a fatal traffic collision occurred just outside Ardee on Saturday evening.

The single vehicle crash happened at approximately 8.50pm, when her vehicle left the road on the N2 between Ardee and Carrickmacross at Glebe, a short distance from Ardee town. Gardai remain at the scene this morning.


The 31-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was the only occupant of the vehicle.

She has since been removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where a post mortem will be conducted at a later date.

The N2 just north of Ardee remains  remains closed in both directions, as Gardai await a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators to take place. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí in Ardee are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward and for any road users who may have camera footage – including dashcam – who were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to Gardaí.

Gardaí say they are also appealing to any occupants of a white car travelling from the direction of Carrickmacross towards Ardee at approximately 8:50pm to make contact with Gardaí.
