The woman who died on Saturday evening after a fatal road traffic collision on the N2 just outside of Ardee town has been named locally.

Sarah Larkin was killed when herAudi car left the road on the busy N2 road between Ardee and Carrickmacross. No other vehicles were involved in the collision. Gardai remain at the scene as a technical examination takes place with the Forensic Collision Investigators.

The body of the 31-year-old mother of two from Ardee was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where a post mortem is due to be conducted.

The N2 will remain closed until further notice in both directions between Ardee and Carrickmacross. Diversions are in place.

Meanwhile, Gardai are keen to speak to the occupants of a white car travelling from the direction of Carrickmacross towards Ardee at approximately 8:50pm on Saturday evening to make contact with Gardaí.

They are also appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward and for any road users who may have camera footage – including dashcam – who were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to Gardaí.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ardee Garda Station on 041 685 3222, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
