One person has been treated in hospital after a road traffic incident on Collon on Thursday afternoon, where a woman and a child were hit by a vehicle.

The incident occurred at approximately 2.50pm on Thursday, at a busy period on Main Street in Collon, as pupils at the nearby Collon National School make their way home.

A car hit a stationery vehicle which is then understood to have hit the two pedestrians. The incident happened outside the entrance to the Oriel Heights housing estate on the Main Street in the village.

The injured woman was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, while the child received non-serious injuries and was treated at the scene.

Gardai in Collon say that investigations are ongoing into the collision.
