Naomh Fionnbarra made it a clean sweep in Group 4 of the Louth GAA Junior Football Championship on Friday evening, handing out a heavy defeat to Stabannon Parnells in their own back yard and claiming top spot in the group in the process.

Brendan Healy’s side recorded their third straight victory by a scoreline of 3-14 to 1-02 to ease into the last eight of the junior grade and mark themselves out as firm favourites to return to the Intermediate level, after a year away for the team from John Markey Park outfit.

Despite two venue changes – the game was originally pencilled in for Darver, then Dromiskin – the encounter was played under the lights in Stabannon, allowing the four-time senior champions a rare Championship home-advantage. It did not count for much, however.

An early goal from Darren McConnon set the Togher men on their way to victory and Parnells were never in the game, trailing by 14 points at half time. For Stabannon, the game saw their Championship campaign end winless.
