LouthNow.ie are to launch a brand new podcast next month, marking the digital journalism outlet’s first major move into the audiosphere.

In Relation To will be hosted by Editor-In-Chief Barry Landy and will offer listeners regular episodes focusing on issues that matter to them and their communities.

Predominately focused on local authority matters, the podcast will offer reports from full council meetings, Municipal meetings and Joint Policing Committees, as well lively debate and discussion from across the political spectrum in Louth. It aims to bring our readers, and soon to be listeners, closer to subjects that matter where you live.

There’ll be interviews, guests, debates, reports and an opportunity for you the listener to put your own questions to your local representatives – on the record. The In Relation To podcast will offer cover your representatives in the Oireachtas, including regular coverage of what local issues they are bringing to national attention.

The episodes will complement LouthNow.ie’s already extensive coverage of Louth County Council and local politics in general.

Whether a listener is in Dundalk and north Louth, Drogheda and south Louth or in Ardee, Dunleer or elsewhere in mid-Louth, the podcast will have something for everyone. Covering issues on the ground, it will shine a light on issues perhaps less discussed elsewhere.

Speaking today, LouthNow.ie Editor-In-Chief Barry Landy said; “I am thrilled to be able to bring our first podcast online and hope as many of you as possible are moved to subscribe on your platform of choice. Audio journalism is bigger than ever and podcasts account for so much of people’s day-to-day media consumption so it was a natural move to take LouthNow.ie into podcasting.

“In Relation To has been an idea the team at LouthNow.ie have been playing around with for quite some time now. Local politics is so important and the work councillors and civil servants do and the decisions they make on a daily basis have a significant affect on all of our daily lives.

“We’re putting issues that matter to you, decisions that affect your local community front and centre. With much more audio content to come over the next number of months, I’m delighted to be able to launch In Relation To as our flagship audio podcast,” he said. “I hope the listeners and the public representatives will come along for the ride.

“I also hope the launch of this podcast will also drive readers to support our work by making a contribution to LouthNow.ie. For as little as €5 per month, or a one-off donation, readers and listeners can help safeguard the future of quality, independent, local journalism.”

You can subscribe and listen to the In Relation To trailer now via Spotify and Apple Podcasts while the podcast will also be available on Google Podcasts and wherever else you listen in the coming days. Regular episodes will begin appearing in your feeds from Wednesday, September 2.

The podcast is hosted, and produced by me, Barry Landy, and recorded in our studio space in Ardee, Co. Louth. The podcast’s cover art is by Kelvin Farrell. LouthNow.ie is published by Longshot Media.
