The Irish Coast Guard were on hand to provide a rescue to a group of persons enjoying the weekend sun in Blackrock on Sunday evening, after they got caught by the tide.
The rescue helicopter was quickly on the scene to assist two adults and three children who were stranded after crossing the river estuary at Blackrock Bay, leaving them unable to return.
While all persons were safely escorted back to safety by the Coast Guard helicopter, the incident does highlight the dangers of the tide to those visiting the seaside.
The images below, shot by Ardee-based amateur photographer Adrian Crawley, show the stranded group awaiting rescue as the helicopter lands. They are subsequently dropped off the land side of the estuary.
