A major clean up operation took place in Dundalk on Saturday early afternoon, after Gardai had cleared out the digger and lorry used to transport it from Clanbrassil Street following on from theft of two ATM machines at the Ulster Bank and AIB premises shortly after 3am.

Our photos show the extent of the damage caused to both premises as thieves used the dig to pull the machines from the wall before loading onto a trailer and away. After Gardai cleared the vehicle and plant machinery and the technical examination was completed, workers got down to the business of clearing up the debris and boarding up the premises. Both ATMs were recovered north of the border, intact and with no cash taken from either unit.
