€200,000 worth of funding has been allocated to improve the Northside Greenway at Mell in Drogheda, part of €8.4 total funding awarded to 44 projects nationwide by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
The money has been granted to the Boyne Greenway on the North Bank to facilitate clearance, drainage, surfacing and fencing as well as the provision of walls and signage on that stretch of the Greenway.
Welcoming the news, Fergus O’Dowd TD said, “This is wonderful news for Drogheda and the North Side Greenway and will build on the fantastic work that has been completed on the opposite side of the river over recent months.
“The benefits of investing and developing such Greenways are wide reaching in terms of tourism and as a local amenity.
“The investment is a collaborative initiative between the Department of Rural and Community Development and Fáilte Ireland,” O’Dowd added.
The funding was announced by Minister Michael Ring today, with all successful projects having lodged applications in 2019.
