Council run parks and playgrounds around Louth will be closed on Sunday due to a Status Orange wind warning which has been put in place for the county and nationwide by Met Éireann.

Coastal flood warnings for the Louth are also in place, in particular for Dundalk Bay. High tide is expected at 11.20am on Sunday.

Sand bags will be available at the Louth County Council machinery yard on the Ardee Road until 6pm on Saturday and then again from 8am to 4pm on Sunday. Sandbags will be delivered to Blackrock on Sunday morning, the local authority say.

Met Éireann say that Storm Ciara will produce very strong southwest winds on Sunday with mean speeds of 65 to 80km/h and gusts generally up to 130km/h. A combination of Spring tides and high seas as well as stormy conditions will result in a significant risk of coastal flooding
