Ardee St Marys, Mattock Rangers and Hunterstown Rovers have all been paired together in the draw for the Louth GAA Paddy Sheelan Cup – an intriguing trio whose fixtures will add considerable spice to the early season cup competition.
Kilkerley Emmets complete the set in Group E as Mattock, who are coming off the back of their terrific Leinster triumph and All-Ireland will pit their wits against northside neighbours Ardee St Marys, who last won the cup in 2018, and Hunterstown Rovers. Just a few kilometres separate those three along the N2. Short journeys no doubt, but the clashes won’t be lacking in edge.
Senior champions Newtown Blues have been drawn in Group D alongside Clan na Gael, St Fechins and O’Connells of Castlebellingham. Naomh Mairtin were the first name out in Group A where they will face Geraldines, St Josephs and Oliver Plunketts.
Last year’s winners Dreadnots face some tricky encounters against St Brides, St Kevins and Naomh Fionnbarra in Group D.
There’s more mid-Louth interest in the Kevin Mullen Shield too as Westerns face Stabannon Parnells while John Mitchels were drawn alongside Lann Leire in Group C.
