Louth County Council issued seven fines for fly tipping in November after a successful operation aimed at detecting those responsible for dumping on the side of the N33 Link Road in Ardee.
Senior Engineer Mark Johnston confirmed the number of detections at Thursday afternoon’s Ardee Municipal District meeting at the Mid-Louth Civic Services Centre in the town.
“We had the cameras there for two weeks and got seven detections,” he told the assembled councillors. “We can do that again.”
With no likelihood of permanent CCTV monitoring equipment being installed for this purpose, the council say they overcome the obstacle of a lack of resources by targeting areas at certain times.
“We can put the cameras in periodically,” Johnston continued. “It’s the best method.
