Gardai made a drugs bust worth over €900,000 in Ardee in the early hours of Sunday morning. Cocaine and cannabis worth an estimated street value in excess of the above figure was seized when officers from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau intercepted two vehicles at 1am while they were travelling in the vicinity of the town.
Two men, aged 41 and 33, were arrested as well as one woman aged 33. The individuals are currently being held at Dundalk and Ashbourne Garda Stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. They can be held in custody for up to seven days before they must be released or charged.
An animal transporter truck and a high powered car were also seized by officers this morning. The operation was part of an ongoing intelligence led investigations associated with the Joint Agency Task Force (JATF) targeting suspected facilitators of drug trafficking in county Louth.
Gardai have also conducted follow up searches in Leixlip, Co. Kildare and Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. Gardai seized a vacuum packing machine and cash to the value of €8,000 during those searches.
