Fine Gael councillor Dolores Minogue wants a municipal athletics track for Ardee, in light of the news that a facility is to built in Dundalk.
Speaking at the Ardee Municipal District monthly meeting last Thursday, Minogue asked, “If the Municipal in Dundalk can do it, why can’t we?”

However, her idea was shot down by Louth County Council’s Director of Services Joe McGuinness.
“Being honest, you’re not comparing apples and oranges,” he said. “It [the Dundalk project] was a very specific project from seven clubs in the north of the county. The council are taking it over.”
