Independent councillor Jim Tenanty has called on the HSE to reopen their clinic on Market Street in Ardee with immediate effect.
Speaking at last Thursday’s Ardee Municipal District meeting, Tenanty said the issue was “very dear to my heart.”
“This building has been used as a dentists for children since the 1950s,” he said. “Every child has used it at some time. For some reason, the HSE made a lame excuse of a busted pipe that had flooded the place.”
The councillor went on to lambast the HSE for the decision, and others. “I know the HSE is in disarray – in dysfunction, to borrow a phrase from a colleague.
“They have a slogan – ‘pathways to leadership.’ Its more like ‘pathways to scandal.’ I call on them to reopen the dispensary not down the line but now.”
Fine Gael councillor Dolores Minogue joined the chorus calling for the clinic to reopen. “It’s badly missed. I was promised it would come back to Ardee. Staff in Dundalk said it was badly flooded.”
