Four extra Garda officers will be transferred to Ardee Gardai Station at the beginning of December.
The four Gardai are already stationed within the Louth Garda Division, report LMFM today. They are being redeployed into Ardee to boost resources in the Ardee area.
The move follows a pledge by the Chief Superintendent Christy Mangan to review the staffing levels at the Ardee station. Speaking at last month’s Local Policing Forum public meeting, Mangan said, “The staffing levels are certainly insufficient.
“There’s not enough Gardai in the Ardee area to service the calls that are coming in.”
Mangan used the meeting to confirm he was currently assessing the number of Gardai officers in the Ardee division and was looking into bringing new Garda recruits to the area. The news that the arrival of four officers – not new but already stationed in the county – is imminent will be a big boost to Ardee Superintendent Fergus Treanor.
It was announced in October’s Budget that 800 new officers will be recruited nationwide in 2018.
