Tomorrow is the last day for applications to become part of the team at Ardee Fire Service as a retained firefighter.

Louth County Council are accepting applications from suitably qualified persons for the role.

Interested parties must be between the ages of 18 and 55, both living and working within five minutes of the fire station – for mobilisation and quick response purposes – at the Fair Green in the town and consider themselves to have a reasonable level of fitness.

Application forms can be obtained by visiting the local authority website with the closing date for receipt of completed applications tomorrow – Friday October 6th at 4.30pm. Further information, such as particulars of office and qualifications for the role, are available from the Human Resources department of Louth County County on 042 932 4383. The qualifications are also available to view here.

The role of Retained Firefighter has an annual retainer fee of between €7,740 and €10,599, of which the base figure has increased by €178 since the turn of the year. Fire fees and drill rates will also apply.

Ardee Municipal District councillor Dolores Minogue is encouraging anyone interested to get their skates on and apply. “This is a tough but rewarding job,” she said. “Many have stayed with the fire brigade in Ardee for many years – such as Liam McCormack and Paul Kane.

“At present there is a great crew working in Ardee and all are welcome to apply to join this hard working team.”

A recruitment information session was held at Ardee Fire Station on Monday last, October 2nd.
