Ardee Celtic are through to the second round of the Leinster Junior Cup after being handed a walkover this morning.

Their first round opponents – Wexford’s Moyne Rangers’ B – were unable to field against Conor Lynch’s first team outfit. The game had been scheduled at 1pm at Townparks, later than the usual 11:30am start time for Sunday home matches – but now Ardee Celtic can put their feet up ahead of next week’s trip to Leopardstown to face Ballyogan in the FAI Junior Cup.

On Saturday, the Fon’t second team played out a scoreless draw with OMP United in the NEFL Premier Reserve league while in Ardee, Frank Dowdall’s third team won the Ardee derby in the A Reserve division – beating Square United 4-2. That win came courtesy of goals from Shawni Dowdall, Lorcan Malone and a brace from John Gallagher.

Dowdall and Malone were set to play a part for a weakened Celtic team this morning, before the late cancellation. Without taking to the field, the Deesiders are now in the pot for the second round.

Ardee Celtic will hold their Las Vegas themed Casino Night fundraiser on Friday October 6th in Luna Nightclub, Ardee. Tickets are €20 per person and can be bought from Conrad Clinton on 087 7977373.

The club also host a 5K/10K Bog Run on Sunday October 1st, in association with Ardee Hospice Homecare. A 10k, which costs €20 to run, will take place at 10am with a 5K Family Run to follow later.

Registration for the 10K must be done online at http://www.popupraces.ie. Registration for the 5K, which costs €10 for adults and €5 for children, can be done from 9am at Townparks. The event is full chipped and all 10K runners get a t-shirt.
