Parents and children are being encouraged to attend next week’s Open Evening at Ardee Community School, with the annual event taking place on Thursday September 28th.
Parents and prospective pupils will join teachers and current students at the open evening where the school gets to show off the very best of their academic, sporting and extra-curricular activities to future students and their families. The Open Evening takes place between 5pm and 7pm.
A well attended event annually, visitors will be able to make their way around the school and get to see lots of students busy at work in some of the secondary school’s state-of-the-art facilities like their computer lab, science labs and construction room. There will also be an exhibition of project work prepared for the 2017 Leaving Cert and Junior Cert state examinations.
This year, visitors will also be able to catch a glimpse of the extensive renovation work that has gone on in the existing main school building over the summer. Earlier this month, all new and returning students returned to classes for the 2017/18 academic year, with around 800 students now enrolled.
“It would be very beneficial for the parents of local 5th and 6th class children to attend, who are considering sending their children to the Community school,” teacher Sean Moran told ThisIsArdee.ie today.
“The extensive building works are ongoing so parking will be limited. However, parking will be available on the night across the road in the Industrial Park,” Moran added.
