Ardee and Mid-Louth recruits sought for Reserve Defence Force

The Reserve Defence Forces are currently recruiting and are looking for applicants from the Ardee and Mid-Louth areas to consider joining up with the local Aiken Barracks in Dundalk.

Ardee and Mid Louth has a long and proud history of supplying personnel to the Defence Forces, with the Reserve Defence Forces now accepting applications for the Army Reserve, they would welcome new applicants from the local area.


They are on the lookout for men and women from all backgrounds who enjoy working as part of a team. Membership would be based on joining the local unit at Aiken Barracks in Dundalk and being able to give a commitment to train a number of weekends per year – aswell as other periods of full time training. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and not more than 35 years of age on date of enlistment The Reserve Defence Forces cannot accept applications from persons under 18 years of age.

In addition, the local unit are hosting Open Nights in Aiken Barracks in Dundalk every Wednesday up to the closing date on September 6th (August 16th, 23rd, 30th, September 6th). Those interested should attend at 8pm on those nights to get a glimpse of a “Life Less Ordinary”.

The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on Wednesday September 6th 2017.

Local Ardee Municipal District councillor Dolores Minogue believes anyone interested should make it their business to attend an Open Night. “It is a good opportunity for those thinking about a career in the forces.
