Sections of the M1 motorway are to be closed at various times throughout September for road resurfacing and traffic on the Ardee Link Road and the old Dundalk Road in Ardee will feel the brunt as traffic increases during the closures.
Louth County Council revealed earlier this week that north and southbound lanes of the M1 in Louth will be closed during evenings and overnight at various dates to accommodate road resurfacing works.
The works will be carried out between 7.30pm and 6.30am on the evenings in question but specific dates of the work are not known.
The northbound stretch of the M1 between junction 15 at Castlebellingham and junction 16 south of Dundalk will close for five nights within the period of September 7th and September 21st. Diversions from junction 14 at Ardee will take motorists onto the N33 Ardee Link Road and then the N52 old Dundalk road where it can then rejoin the M1 at the Dundalk roundabout.
The southbound stretch of the motorway between Dundalk and Castlebellingham is also set to close for four nights within the period of September 11th to September 27th, with work again being undertaken by 7.30pm and 6.30pm. Again, diversions will begin in Dundalk and end at junction 14 in Ardee.
The local authority say that only one diversion will be in place at any one time.
There are also closures and diversions set for the northbound and southbound stretches of the M1 between junction 13 and junction 15. More details are below. These will take place over the course of eight and 13 evenings respectively across September and October. Diversions details are below.
