Council again inviting new firefighter applications

Louth County Council are currently establishing a panel for retained firefighters to be based at Ardee Fire Station.

Interested parties must be between the ages of 18 and 55, both living and working within five minutes of the fire station – for mobilisation and quick response purposes – at the Fair Green in the town and consider themselves to have a reasonable level of fitness.


Application forms can be obtained by visiting the local authority website with the closing date for receipt of completed applications Friday, September 1st at 4.30pm. Further information, such as particulars of office and qualifications for the role, are available from the Human Resources department of Louth County County on 042 932 4383. The qualifications are also available to view here.

The role of Retained Firefighter has an annual retainer fee of between €7,740 and €10,599, of which the base figure has increased by €178 since the turn of the year. Fire fees and drill rates will also apply.

If interested in a role, Ardee Fire Station are also holding an Recruitment Information Session Thursday, August 24th between 7pm and 9pm. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Recruitment for firefighters is also underway for other stations in Louth – Carlingford, Dunleer, Dundalk and Drogheda.
