There’s an entire Bank Holiday weekend worth of family fun and entertainment set for Lobinstown next weekend as the local community come together to support their local schools and Syddan GFC.
A Family Fun Day will be held at Meade Potato Company on Saturday next, August 5th, before the premises is transformed 24 hours as the adults come out to play at the ever popular Hoedown in Lobinstown returns on the Bank Holiday Sunday.
After a successful first year, local schools Heronstown NS and Newtown N.S are again collaborating with local business Meade Potato Company to host a school fundraiser on the Saturday, which will en entire day of farm-orientated family fun.
Running from 12-3pm, activities will include pony rides, bouncy castles, a mini tractor grand prix (below), animal and tractor displays, face painting, farm & factory tours, a mini hoedown and much more besides.
Children can dance to country tunes, enter the mini tractor grand prix, take a pony ride, have a bounce on a selection of bouncy castles, get their faces painted, enjoy the farm animal and vintage tractor displays, kick hot shots with local footballers and take a behind the scenes tour of the farm and food production facility to learn more about the farm to fork journey of fresh produce.
Admission is €5 per child and includes all of the above activities, as well as free entry into a draw to win an annual family membership pass for Tayto Park. Parents will be delighted to learn that adults go free. A BBQ stand and ice cream van will also offer families great value to make this a fun day that organisers say will be easy on the pocket. All proceeds will go directly to the local schools, Heronstown and Newtown NS.
Many of the aforementioned events will take place in the Meade potato store barn and come Saturday evening, the job will begin to transform into a night venue for Sunday evening’s Hoedown in Lobinstown. Getting under from 8pm, the good ol’ fashioned honkytonk will include music from The Texas Wildcats, Eugene Donegan, Pilgrim St and Paddy McGarry.
There’ll be happy hour deals, competitions and lots of craic, with admission €25 including a BBQ. “Based on the huge amount of positive feedback we had for both events last year, it will be a Bank Holiday weekend not to be missed here in Lobinstown,” Eleanor Meade of Meade Potato Company said.
