Dundalk Schoolboys League Under 15s suffered penalty shootout heartbreak in Portrush this afternoon as they lost out 3-5 in the shootout of the SuperCup NI Shield final to American outfit First Choice Soccer.

Ardee Celtic’s Jamie Ward is part of the Dundalk Schoolboys squad that has travelled north of the border for the competition but sadly, the Dundalk lads lost all three group games before succumbing to penalties to First Choice in today’s Shield final. They did however beat Chilean side Colina in the Shield semi-final on Thursday, and then turned in a good performance to draw 2-2 with the US team today.

However, the Americans prevailed in the resultant penalty shootout to leave the Louth mean empty handed for the tournament.

The 15-year-old Ardee Community School pupil Ward has previously represented Dundalk Schoolboys in tournaments such as the Umbro. Kennedy Cup. This week, Colin Finan’s team were beaten by Strikers FC, NC Elite and then Co Fermanagh in the group stage before beating Colina en route to today’s Junior Section Shield Final.
