The first ever Dee Hub Golf Classic is set to take place next month, acting as a major fundraiser for the community initiative operating in the town.
The Inaugural Dee Hub Golf Classic will he held at Ardee Golf Club on August 25th and organisers are inviting teams to register to play on the day. Spaces are filling up fast for the event and anyone who is interested in in entering a team is asked to do so soon to ensure they are fitted in on the tee schedule.
It costs €200 to enter a team and the Dee Hub are inviting local businesses, groups and residents to take part. Organisers are also encouraging sponsors for tees and greens, at a cost of €100. Businesses will be advertised on the day on both the course itself and the club house too.
100% of all donations will go directly to the Dee Hub to help with the voluntary services that it provides. For more information, you can contact the Dee Hub directly on 087 426 6206 or call John Kieran (087 836 4726) or Johnnie McGoey (087 2036399).
The Dee Hub is run completely on a voluntary basis and currently reelies solely on self-funding. Ongoing fundraising is vitally important to their operation and the ongoing delivery of their services.
The Hub, based in the former Ardee Credit Union building on Market Street, was boosted twice this week first with the news that the community resource centre had secured funding from the International Fund for Ireland for what they describe as “a new key programme.” That initiative is the Leaf Programme – a personal youth development programme and it is slated to get underway this Autumn.
It was also revealed this week that Louth County Council had nominated the Dee Hub for the All-Ireland Pride in Places Awards, with judges set to visit the centre in August.
