Residents of Ferdia Park have voiced their concern over the “out of control” vandalism being caused on the estate.
The acts of vandalism include the removal and theft of a surveillance camera set up in the estate, destruction of flower beds and damage to new concrete seating, within an hour of its installation.
Louth County Council and local Gardai have been contacted regarding the matter which has seen children, many pre-teen, damaging property and endangering road users in recent weeks, ThisIsArdee.ie has been told.
Residents have also spotted culprits removing stones from flower beds and throwing them towards passing cars on the Golf Links Road, which runs past the estate’s entrance.
One concerned resident told ThisIsArdee.ie; “It’s out of control. They think it’s a great thing to be vandalising their own estate. I just don’t get it.”
“Residents are disgusted by it and we have been forced to report it to the Council and Gardai. It can’t go on like this.”
Louth County Council have yet to respond on the matter, but local Gardai have told residents they will investigate the matter and speak with those involved.
