The John Mitchels 6K Walk/Run returns in 2017 and this year the event will support the Irish Cancer Society.
Registration for the run, which will be held on Sunday August 27th at 2pm, is now open with entry costing €20 and €10 for students. Last year, a big crowd came out to the John Mitchels clubrooms at Ballybailie for the start of the 6K which travelled down the N52 and back around to the Mitchels base via Riverstown Cross and Scrogganstown.
Speaking about why the Irish Cancer Society was chosen as a beneficiary this year, organiser Paul Curtis told ThisIsArdee.ie, “There isn’t a household in the country that hasn’t been affected by cancer.”
Last year’s event was held in aid of Cycle Against Suicide. In 2017, the organisers will be making a donation to the Irish Cancer Society. To register for the run, click the link here. Registration will also be open on the day. All are welcome and refreshments will be served after the run. The race will be chipped and there will be prizes for first, second and third placed men and women.
The club will also be hosting a Family Fun Day that afternoon with more details to follow soon.
