As you’ll know, Ardee Community School is closed off for the summer to accommodate the major construction work underway as the brand new extension to the school is built – as well as major renovations to the existing building and grounds are undertaken.
Work is currently ongoing at breakneck speed on the new school extension which will provide new, state of-the-art facilities to the students and increase capacity at Ardee CS to around 900 pupils. As well as the new build going up adjacent to the current building, the current building will undergo an extensive electrical and plumbing upgrade which will in turn see many areas of the current school building upgraded.

The extension is set to cost in the region of €3 million. The new 2911 sq metre standalone building will replace the circa 490 sq metre prefabs that were in use to the end of the 2016/17 academic year.
The work is also including the development upgrades on the existing school building and grounds – including a new hard court, new car parking arrangements, footpath and roadway improvements, fencing and landscaping.
Our photographer Adrian Crawley paid a visit to the site this week to take a look at how things are progressing.
