There will be traffic restrictions in place in the Ardee Town area between 8am and 5pm at the earliest this coming Saturday (May 27th) as the An Post Ras Stage 7 finish comes to the town.
Stage 7 will finish in Ardee on Saturday anytime between 2.29pm – 4.13pm, current estimates suggest. There are over 190 cyclists registered in the event.
At 8am on Saturday morning An Post Ras officials will assemble crowd control barriers in the town, with the race set to come into Ardee from Carrickmacross on the main N2 roadway.
It will make it’s way through the roundabouts at the north side of the town and continue onto the Ardee Link Road. There, it will turn onto Castleguard, Hale Street, Bridge Street and then down the Main Street to the end line at the Ardee School of Music.

- Town open to through traffic until 1pm
- Rolling road closures in place from 1pm
- Traffic restrictions also in place on Sunday approx 12pm – but for a shorter duration
- Off street parking will be available throughout
- Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to view the event
An Garda Siochana ask that people should be aware that there will be no parking in the town between 8am and 5pm. Traffic will be allowed to travel through the town up to 1pm approximately when a rolling road closure will take place to allow safe passage for the Ras to finish in the town.
“We regret any inconvenience caused but we will continuously monitor the traffic and control same for the duration of the event,” Ardee Gardai Inspector Paul Kiernan told ThisIsArdee.ie.
“Anyone wishing to view the event is encouraged to arrive early and to abide by any advice given by Gardai and/or stewards. Off street parking is available and should be utilised.”
On Sunday morning, Stage 8 (Ardee – Skerries) begins with a ceremonial start from Ardee Parish Centre at 12 midday with Ardee Concert Band providing on street entertainment outside Wheels And Heels Cycle Shop.
Again, traffic restrictions will be in place on Sunday but for a shorter period of time. The race is due in Drumconrath Co Meath at approx 12.40pm when all roads in Ardee will be open and accessible.
“We are expecting a large crowd in the town and again encourage people to arrive early and to enjoy the event which is a fabulous spectacle for the town,” Kiernan said.
“We again appeal to the Public to come early and to adhere to any advices from Gardai/stewards in order that the event can run off smoothly and safely.
“Slane Concert is on Saturday 27th May 2017 also and we are expecting extra traffic in and around the town. As always we encourage all road users for courtesy and patience and to allow extra time if their journey is through Ardee.”
