AMS Tree Services in Ardee will host a special steam woodworking show next Saturday (May 27th) in aid of the seventh floor of the Mater Hospital in Dublin.
The Vintage & Steam Woodworking Show is being held in aid of the Day Ward, Floor 7 of the Mater Hospital in Dublin. Explaining the idea behind the show, Patrick Kelly of AMS told ThisIsArdee.ie told his mother Mary has been undergoing cancer treatment at the facility.
“My mother was diagnosed with cancer before Christmas. They’ve been very good to her and that’s why we want to raise funds,” he said. “She’s doing good and she has two bouts of chemotherapy to go.”
The show is the brainchild of Patrick, sister Emma and father Seamus and will involve exhibitions of driving saws and steam engines at work.
The fundraiser – which takes place at the AMS yard behind Bank of Ireland on Sean O’Carroll Street – will involved exhibitions of steam powered sawmills
Steam engines from the Traction Engine Club of Ulster will be present as will engines from Carlow, Dundalk and one of the Kelly family’s own too. Anyone looking to make a donation to the fundraiser can come along, check out the steam engine woodworking and make a contribution.
