Appeals made for return of stolen French Bulldog

Appeals are being made for the return of a French Bulldog stolen from a residential property in Tullykeel on Thursday.

The dog, worth €3,000, was taken along with a small Jack Russell Terrier in the raid on the home that was empty on Thursday morning. The French Bulldog – called Cupcake – had been locked safely in the garden shed while the other dog, Blackjack, was sitting outside the door.

Upon returning to the house in Churchtown, owner Karen Byrne found the dogs gone with the shed door forced open and the gate hanging on it’s hinges. The culprits – who Byrne has described as “pure evil” – also forced their way into the family home and killed a duck kept inside, a children’s pet.

Gardai from Ardee have taken a statement from the property owner. The Jack Russell Terrier was later found injured a number of miles from the property, but the French Bulldog remains missing.

The owners are offering a significant reward for information on it’s whereabouts. If you know anything, have been offered a dog for sale or saw anything suspicious on Thursday morning last in the Tullykeel area, please contact 085 125 8755.
