The old church on John Street in Ardee will be open to the public next month, as part of a new Bank of Ireland business and community expo.
Bank of Ireland Ardee are to host another expo – they held one in Ardee Parish Centre two years ago – on May 27th this year. It will look to benefit from the sizeable amount of footfall in the town on the day. The expo will take place on the same day as the An Post Ras.
May 27th is also the day of the 2017 Slane Concert, when Guns N Roses take to the stage at Slane Castle. The day of the concert is traditionally a busy day for traffic in Ardee with people travelling south en route to Slane.
More details of the Expo will be announced in due course – but local business and community and sports groups will be invited to take part and showcase what they do.
Two years ago, entrepreneur and star of RTÉ’s Dragons Den Gavin Duffy was joined by Mairead McGuinness MEP, former Minister for Business and Employment Gerald Nash, IFA President Eddie Downey, GAA football legend Mick O’Dywer and ex-Dundalk midfielder Richie Towell at the event.
The Ardee branch of Bank of Ireland are hopeful of securing more special guests to attend this time around. The event is supported by the Ardee Traders & Business Association.
The former church situated opposite the church of the Nativity of Lady Ardee was sold in 2015 and was last open to the public last October for Ardee St Marys’ Nightmare on John Street event.
