Sean McDermotts GFC are gearing up ahead of the start of the new league campaign by teaming up with their new prinicipal shirt sponsors, John McCabe Motors Ltd.
The Stormanstown outfit will line out in brand new shirts for the 2017 league and championship season after striking a deal with John McCabe Motors Ltd to adorn the club’s shirt for the next three years.
The car dealership, which is based in Dundalk and Ardee, returns having previously acted as the club’s principal shirt sponsor for number of years in the 00’s and replaces the Seans’ previous shirt sponsor – Ardee-based Hickey’s Farm Fresh. McGahon’s Bar and Lounge and DKIT have previously acted as shirt sponsors for the club.
Writing on their Facebook page, John McCabe Motors Ltd said, “John McCabe Motors Ltd are officially the driving force behind Sean McDermotts GFC for the next 3 years.
“We’re delighted to be able to support one of the GAA clubs and local community which has been exceptionally loyal to us down through the years. A massive thank you to all of our local customers who are both players and supporters of Sean McDermotts GFC. Your support has never gone unnoticed and we’re more than happy to be able to return the same level of support back to you as a club and community.”
Sean McDermotts’ player Eoin Lynch joined Robert McCabe at their Nissan dealership on the Coes Road in Dundalk on Wednesday to officially unveil the new shirts.
The Sean McDermotts have already gotten their 2017 season underway with a 2-07 to 1-05 win over Lann Leire in the Kevin Mullen Shield and they now eagerly await the start of the new league season. They’ll be hoping to replicate or even better last year’s showing where they narrowly missed out on a promotion play-off spot.
Now under the stewardship of Brian Carroll, the senior team will also embark on a Championship run aiming to perhaps go even further than their run to last year’s semi-final. The Seans will face local rivals Westerns GFC and Sean McDermotts in the group stages as well as Wolfe Tones after they were grouped together in last Thursday’s draw.
Their Division 6 side take on the O’Connell’s in Castlebellingham on Sunday morning at 11am as that league gets underway.
