Research from the RSA Check it Fits service has revealed that four out of five child car seats are incorrectly fitted nationwide. To address this problem the Check it Fits service visits various locations throughout Ireland where expert checkers experts are available to ensure car seats and restraints are correctly fitted.

Since October 2013 up until last December, the service has checked over 21,000 seats and visited 500 locations throughout Ireland. The experts are on hand to advise how to fix problems, demonstrate how to fit restraints correctly and answer any queries participants might have to avoid potential serious or fatal injury in the event of a collision.

The check generally takes between 10-15 minutes (depending on the adjustments required), is free of charge and offers parents and guardians reassurance that their child is safe while travelling in the car.

So, if you’re in the SuperValu car park today or passing through town and have a little one in the car – be sure to drop by for your free check.
