66 soloists and 16 emsembles from the North East took part in the the recent IABCB N.E. Region Solo & Ensemble
Competition which was held at Ardee Concert Band’s own base at the Bohemian Centre in Ardee.
In fact, Ardee Concert had a great day that included winning the coveted Overs Open Ensemble section. The 10 strong group – that included two Under 18 members – that emerged victorious in that category were Dermot Murray, John Gaynor, Tim O’Callaghan, Rachel Goodwin, Vincent McArdle, James Walsh, Lorcan Conlon, Kevin Reilly, Paul Callan and Mark McLoughlin.
Once again, and as expected, the high standard of musicianship in Ardee Concert Band was evident as ever by the excellent performance from all participating members.

Needless to say, adjudicator Ronan O’Reilly – director of the Artane School of Music- was very impressed with all of the musicians.
The current officers of the N.E. Region all performed on the day including Treasurer Kevin Reilly, of Ardee Concert Band. As well as the organisational support and help provided by Ardee, great help was also provided by the other participant bands on the day.
There were also three excellent accompanists helping all of the performers in the form of Edward Holly, David Leddy and Emma-Lee Meegan while vice-chairperson of Ardee Concert Band Jen McKeever acted as MC on the day too.
