While all three of their senior teams chase league glory this season, some of Ardee Celtic’s juvenile sides have also been making great strides of their own, especially in the cup competitions – and this weekend three of them will try to navigate the last four stage en route to a potential cup final.
On Saturday morning, the first of those three young sides will tackle their first semi-final assignment when the club’s Under 12 girls compete in the Drogheda League Under 12 Cup semi final against Termonfeckin on Saturday. Having beaten Carrick Rangers on penalties in the quarter finals, the team coached by Mick Halpenny and Kevin Hoey, will be hopeful progressing to the final with a win in Termonfeckin.
A day later, Frank Dowdall’s Under 12 Boys will take on Rock Celtic in the North Leinster semi-final at Sandy Lane, with kick-off in Blackrock scheduled for 11am on Sunday. The boys have form against Rock in cup competition already this season. They won 0-2 two weeks ago against Sunday’s opponents in the last 32 of the National Cup.
At the same time, the Ardee Celtic U14 Boys play in their own North Leinster semi final on home soil – but they face a very tough ask but against St Kevin Boys. The renowned Dublin junior side are known for producing Jeff Hendrick, Robbie Brady and Jack Byrne in recent years.
However, they will hold no fear for Ardee Celtic’s U14s who under the tutelage of Pauline Breslin and Andy Woods have already beaten Shelbourne en route sealing their semi-final place. Sunday’s match will kick off at 2pm at Townparks, after the first team play against Navan Town in the morning kick-off.
Best of luck to all of the teams this weekend!
