Applications are now being invited from local community groups and small residents associations for the 2017 Community Involvement Scheme.

The scheme asks for residents or groups that are looking for roadworks on local and small public roads such as lanes or cul-de-sacs to contribute 50% towards the work, which Louth County Council will then match.

The scheme is an application process and not all bids to receive 50% contributions will be successful. The local authority will assess all applications and consider their suitability for 50% funding.

Ardee Municipal cathaoirleach Dolores Minogue says she welcomes news of the CIS initiative and she hopes that locals who feel they are eligible for such a contribution will look into the process further. “I welcome this and if anyone needs help or advice, please do not hesitate to get in contact on 087 951 2788,” she said.

“The scheme applies to tertiary, third-degree roads,” Independent councillor Jim Tenanty added. “I’ve been pushing for this and I welcome the scheme.”

Further details can be obtained from the Operations Section of Louth County Council. Telephone 042 9324 4266 or email [email protected] You can also find more information on www.louthcoco.ie. The latest date for submission of applications is Friday 3rd March 2017
