If you’re not making the trip to Portlaoise next weekend to catch Louth’s Allianz National League opener against Laois, don’t worry – it’s being broadcast live on eir Sport.

That means you’ll be able to watch the likes of Westerns GFC’s Tommy Durnin, Ardee St Marys’ John Bingham and Hunterstown’s Ryan Burns in action against Peter Creedon’s outfit in Louth’s first game back in Division Three after securing promotion last year as they won Division Four.

The game will be shown on eir Sport 1 next Saturday (February 4th) with throw-in at 7pm. The game is part of eir Sport’s expanded Allianz League coverage this year in which the broadcaster will broadcast three games simultaneously in two of the rounds. The other matches shown live next week will be Mayo vs Monaghan and Down vs Fermanagh.

Burns has not featured for his county so far in the O’Byrne Cup – he has been representing DCU – but will be expected to come in for Colin Kelly’s side, considering he top-scored for the Wee County in last year’s league triumph. He scored 1-22 en route to beating Antrim to top spot.

Durnin will surely start in midfield for Louth next Saturday. He was a first choice pick in the league in 2016 before leaving for the USA while Louth went out of the Leinster Championship to Meath. Upon his return to the senior fold this month, he has impressed and is likely to continue in the XV.

Ardee St Marys duo John Bingham and Ronan Carroll will also be hopeful of featuring against Laois, having both played throughout the O’Byrne Cup. Bingham was part of the 2016 panel but his playing time was reasonably limited while Carroll has returned to the Louth panel after a couple of years out of the frame.

Hunterstown duo David Finn and Tony McKenna were also included in the expanded Louth panel selected by Kelly and his team earlier this month.

22 counties will feature in eir Sport’s Allianz National League coverage this year across 23 games and five triple headers. You can find out more and subscribe to the eir Sport pack – which includes BT Sport – on https://www.eirsport.ie.
