Earlier this month, the Ardee St Marys finished installing brand new seating at Pairc Mhuire – part of their regeneration of the pitchside stand. New, shiny and resplendent in royal blue – the new seating in the stand looks great and when complete, the whole stand will be a comfortable and safe place for spectators at matches at all levels.
The stand was built way back in 1975 – 42 years ago – and has been funded by the club’s Make A Stand which invited supporters to pay €150 for a seat and have their name, or that or a loved one, engraved on a plaque to mark their comtribution. It is a fitting way to involve club people, renovate an old structure and continue to provide shelter from all conditions.

There’s also been some changes at committee level for Ardee St Marys, who held their AGM at the clubhouse last Thursday. Outgoing chairman Brendan Kerins has been replaced by Mickey Rooney.
Alan Keenan is Vice-Chairperson, while Sean Carroll is club secretary, assisted by Ango Courtney. Anne Marie Rice is club treasurer, with Norma O’Brien assistant treasurer. Peter Duffy is the players Rep for 2017.
Former chair Brendan Kerins will now head up the Club Planning and Development going forward in 2017. The club paid trubute to Kerins’ effort in his role as chairman over the last seven years on Facebook.
